Wise words from Ross Geller (and also Lafe Smith)

Tonight in class, we split into small groups, where we shared a component of our prototypes we most wanted feedback on. We discussed strengths, possible pivots, and plans. Here are mine for ArtWalk, based on the feedback received and the discussion I shared with my classmates tonight. Strengths:

  • New onboarding screens are helpful.

  • Style of the app is more cohesive now, and feels more artistic.

  • Video added to Walk section provides more realistic simulation of how it would feel to use the app walking.

  • Figma prototype is getting gradually more realistic feeling overall. One classmate told me that he felt it looked like he could take it tomorrow and go for an ArtWalk, which was exciting and encouraging to hear. Pivots:

  • Instead of having interest icons turn black and white when pressed, leave them full color and add a circle around the outside to indicate when they have been selected. This will be better for accessibility and keep the vibrant personality of the app in tact.

  • Check new icons for color blindness accessibility

  • Add a small preview (an image? an illustrative representation?) of what the user is walking to next in the way finding screens between art stops.

  • Add a counter or indicator of how far the user has walked to Walk screens. Plan:

  • Address the items in the Pivots list

  • Create Goals screens in Figma prototype
